What is a “hit”?
Any time a webthumb image gets served to you, it is a “hit”. It doesn’t matter if your request results in a re-capture of the web page or if it’s already in our cache. You can reduce the number of hits on our server by caching the results on your end.

Technical Questions

I’m displaying webthumbs on my secure web page, and now I get security warnings!
If the page you’re displaying web thumbs on is accessed via HTTPS and the image references use HTTP then your browser may complain that some content is “insecure”. The solution is to use https://webthumbs.islandnet.com/api… instead of http://webthumbs.ca/api… in your webthumb URLs. This works exactly the same way and loads the same image, except it uses our parent company’s SSL certificate.

Is it possible to customize the watermark text, or remove it completely?
Absolutely! Check out our paid plans for more details.

I don’t want you to make webthumbs of my web site!
No problem. We have a “do not capture” list, and if you contact us with your web site details we’ll add you to it.

Billing & Payment

How do I subscribe to one of the paid plans?
Log into your account and click the “Change Subscription” button.

What are my payment options?
Payment must be made via a recurring PayPal subscription. You can choose a monthly plan, or get a discounted rate for purchasing 3, 6, or 12 months at a time. We do not accept credit cards or any other payment methods.

How can I cancel my paid subscription?
You can cancel your paid subscription at any time by logging into your account and clicking “Change Subscription”.
